CheckoutNoise isolation of the growbox: how to deal with noise in the growbox

Experienced growers know that the noise coming from the grow box is annoying. Especially monotonous. Specifically, exceeding 50-60 dB. Therefore, we decided to find out what factors provoke noise, and how to improve the noise isolation of the grow box in order to eliminate discomfort.
Noise Cause #1: Fan
To reduce noise, you need to find out its cause. The first is the bolts and other fasteners used to assemble the fan.
This applies to budget models or devices assembled in haste on their own.
After turning on, they rattle and make unpleasant sounds, and some vibrate.
How to reduce fan noise in grow box in this case?
There are several ways:
- Check the condition of bolts and other fasteners. If they are loose, they make a lot of noise when the fan is running. They need to be more firmly fixed, or soft material added to the spacers. It will eliminate excess vibration and neutralize noise;
- hang the device on a soft textile fabric. In this case, the device will not come into contact with either the walls of the grow box or other surfaces. Most often, it is due to the contact of objects that noise is created.
Also, the level of fan noise in the grow box depends on the quality of its assembly and type. There are silent models. During operation, they are almost inaudible.
Another important question: how to lower the cooler level in the growbox if the described life hacks do not help, and there is no money to buy a silent device?
Some growers use a more sophisticated ventilation system - supply.
They install a fan in a special box and connect it to the grow box. They place the “ventilation box” on the balcony or outside the window. The noise of the fan blends with the sounds of the street and is almost imperceptible.
But this method is suitable for those who are not afraid to draw too much attention to their hobby. Be prepared for questions from neighbors or passers-by about the structure placed outside the window or on the balcony.
Reason #2: Windstorms
If there are gaps in the structure in addition to the ventilation holes, then air entering them will create unnecessary noise. You can eliminate the disadvantage with the help of corrugations. It must be placed on the walls of the structure. It will close the extra gaps, and the noise level will decrease.
Reason #3: compressors and pumps
These devices are used to change the moisture level or temperature in the grow box.
During operation, they make noise, vibrate. To eliminate unnecessary noise, use a vibration isolation mat, and make sure that there is always a moderate water level in the pumps.
The mat can also be placed under the fan and other devices used to create an acceptable microclimate in the grow box.
It is resistant to point loads and eliminates vibration transmission to the floor. Its height is 4-6 cm. It is almost imperceptible in the grow box.
Advice from experienced growers
To eliminate unnecessary noise and vibration in the grow box, you need to:
- monitor the build quality of the box: it is important that there are no gaps between the edges, they fit snugly together. Then, when air masses appear or pressure changes inside the structure, no noise will occur;
- purchase devices that work almost silently. They will be less of a problem. Such devices are more expensive;
- buy corrugations, mats, fan hangers made of soft materials. These are additional costs, but they will keep the cultivation of cannabis and other crops quiet.
Now everyone who is ready to buy a grow box has detailed instructions on how to eliminate any extraneous sounds and make the process of growing hemp and other plants comfortable.
