What plants contain cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids can be produced by the human body, produced by plants, or created synthetically. The presented substances have a positive effect on the immune response, communication between cells, improve metabolism and appetite. It used to be thought that phytocannabinoids were only found in cannabis, but recent research has proven that this is not the case.

What are cannabinoids

Cannabinoids (CBD for short) are fat-soluble substances that can be produced by the body or ingested from outside. In the second situation, they accumulate in tissues enriched with lipids (lungs, brain, internal genital organs), from where they gradually begin to be released into the blood. If we consider how useful CBD is, then it plays a certain role in the regulation of physiological processes, in particular:

  • appetite;
  • memory and emotional state;
  • pain.

It all depends on which cannabinoid receptors are involved in the binding of substances. Naturally produced cannabinoids that bind to receptors are formed within the body. But they can also come from outside - in this situation, they have a similar effect. The effect of a particular cannabinoid depends on exactly where the receptor is located. CBD is responsible for increasing appetite and relaxing muscles, while THC enhances the perception of aromas, colors, and tastes.

Where cannabinoids are found: a list of plants

Cannabinoids found in plants are called phytocannabinoids. They are found not only in cannabis, but also in simple houseplants:

  • Cocoa. It should be eaten raw, and organic cocoa should be used. Milk chocolate is not suitable, because milk interferes with the absorption of nutrients. As part of this plant there is serotonin - the main hormone that stabilizes mood, giving a feeling of happiness. It also helps with digestive and nutritional disorders. Cocoa contains melatonin, which is responsible for normalizing sleep.
  • Black pepper. It is eaten raw. It is a popular spice that is high in beta-caryophyllene, a terpene that gives cannabis its spicy and peppery flavor. Pepper has an anti-inflammatory effect that relieves joint pain.
  • Rudbeckia. It is used in tea. This is a bright pink flower that helps to overcome migraines, fatigue, reduce anxiety, relieve arthritis.
  • Immortally. It must be consumed in oil. The plant contains a lot of cannabigerol, used as an antidepressant and mood stabilizer.
  • Black truffle. It is eaten raw. It regulates pain perception and mood.
  • Intoxicating pepper. The plant is used in tea. It allows you to relieve anxiety, eliminate chronic pain. It also has a sedative effect.

Furthermore, it is also worth considering that the above plants do not give a psychological effect if they are not consumed in large quantities. The concentration of cannabinoids in them is low when compared with hemp. At the same time, they are an excellent alternative in a situation where a person needs only the beneficial properties of CBD. Also pay attention to the fact that each plant must be used correctly in order to get the desired result.

Summing up

Cannabinoids have a positive effect on the human body. Despite the fact that the concentration of this substance is not as strong as in cannabis, the above plants can benefit the body. But it is also worth considering that some people may be allergic to one or more of them. The cannabis seeds do not contain either CBD or THC, but are filled with a lot of various vitamins and successfully used in cooking as a useful additive.
